Cloud Computing Technologies and their Application in Problems of Computational Biology

Abstract: The concept of cloud computations is described; their classification and basic architecture details are discussed. Major cloud-based projects in the sphere of information technologies are considered. Several projects in computational biology utilizing cloud-based computations are described. The MathCell project is considered in detail and its properties as cloud-based resource are examined. Its software and computational resources are described based on direct simulations of intra-cellular processes.
