Nonlinear optical phenomena

Generation of difference frequencies in nonhelicoidal smectic liquid crystals

Abstract: Generation of six difference frequencies in cells with nonhelicoidal smectic liquid crystals for six argon laser lines has been experimentally obtained for the first time. The maximum energy conversion efficiency is about 3% at a total input radiation power of 125 mW.
