Optical interaction of inhomogeneously excited injection lasers

Abstract: An investigation was made of the interaction between optically coupled diodes under inhomogeneous excitation conditions. It was found that the efficiency of the optical interaction increased with increasing degree of inhomogeneity of the excitation. Basic logic elements with an interaction efficiency of about five were constructed from optically coupled and inhomogeneously excited laser diodes.
