Thermal stresses in active elements under continuous pumping conditions

Abstract: An interference method was used to determine the temperature gradient and the thermoelastic stresses which appear in active crystalline elements under continuous pumping conditions. The radial distribution of the refractive indices was found to be nearly quadratic and this simplified the design calculations of the compensating resonator elements.
