Dynamics of the formation of an optical waveguide in the presence of striction nonlinearity

Abstract: The rate of growth of a self-focusing pulse channel, resulting from striction nonlinearity, is calculated. The relationships obtained make it possible to determine the maximum length of a waveguide which is formed during a pulse. Numerical expressions are given for the case of weak and strong absorption.
