Generation of ultraviolet radiation in an LiIO3 crystal at the frequency of the third harmonic of a mode-locked YAG:Nd3+ laser

Abstract: The third harmonic of a mode-locked YAG:Nd3+ (λ = 355 nm) solid-state laser was generated for the first time. A crystal of LiIO3 was found to be promising for the generation of near-ultraviolet radiation in the cw and quasi-cw regimes. An average ultraviolet radiation power of 4.5 mW was obtained in the mode-locking regime.
