Optical potential for high energy scattering

Abstract: A formula is derived in the high energy approximation for the optical potential in terms of the effective coupling potentials of the elastic and inelastic channels. The coupling potentials determine approximately the two-particle nuclear correlation function. If allowance is made for the effective excitation energy of the nucleus, the theoretically calculated diffraction minima associated with elastic scattering of electrons by nuclei may be partially filled.
