Dynamical structure factors and electron transport phenomena in simple metals

Abstract: A new approach is proposed for the calculation of the conductivity and thermal conductivity of simple liquids and amorphous and crystalline metals based on direct use of the Kubo formulas. In the framework of this approach, the transport coefficients are expressed in terms of the dynamical structure factors of the ion and electron subsystems, and also mixed structure factors. The electron and mixed dynamical structure factors are found with allowance for the electron-electron and electronion interactions by the method of two-time retarded Green's functions. The contribution of electron-electron scattering to the thermal resistivity is obtained; it is proportional to $T$.
