Abstract: The Gibbs equations for the critical state are used to analyze the behavior of the properties of substances in the region of the critical point. It is demonstrated that the Gibbs equations for the critical state enable one to describe, in agreement with experiment, all special features of critical phenomena, including the derivation of the equation of state for matter in the critical region, temperature dependences for heat capacity, and so on.
