Comparative analysis of eddy cascade formation in various turbulent problems

Abstract: For various flow problems described by hyperbolic equations, a comparative analysis of scenarios of turbulent flow development in shear layers is given. It is proved that the three-dimensionality of the problem under study is a key condition for the onset of turbulence. For developed turbulence, the spectral analysis of kinetic energy is conducted and the Kolmogorov $-5/3$ power law is confirmed.
