ОБЗОРЫ АКТУАЛЬНЫХ ПРОБЛЕМ

Большие и бесконечные дополнительные измерения

Аннотация: В последнее время основной акцент в развитии теорий, имеющих более чем три пространственных измерения, сместился в сторону представления "мира на бране". Эта модель предполагает, что обычное вещество (за исключением, может быть, гравитонов и других гипотетических частиц, очень слабо взаимодействующих с веществом) находится на трехмерном многообразии — "бране", вложенном в многомерное пространство. В представлении мира на бране дополнительные измерения могут иметь большой или даже бесконечный размер, они могут непосредственно проявляться в существующих или будущих экспериментах. Цель настоящего обзора — используя простые теоретико-полевые модели, на общедоступном уровне изложить основные идеи этой концепции.
