Trudy Moskovskogo Matematicheskogo Obshchestva
“Trudy Moskovskogo Matematicheskogo Obshchestva” [Proceedings of Moscow
Mathematical Society] is one of the most
authoritative Russian editions in mathematics, publishing original papers
on important problems of contemporary mathematics. “Proceedings of
MMS”
were founded in 1952 by the initiative of I. M. Gelfand. The first Editorial
Board consisted of P. S. Alexandroff, I. M. Gelfand and
O. N. Golovin. Among the
members of the Editorial Board of “Proceedings” were also
A. N. Kolmogorov,
L. R. Volevich, S. P. Novikov, O. A. Oleinik,
Ya. G. Sinai.
Initially “Proceedings” were created for the publication of long papers of
monography character, in particular, second doctor (Doctor of Science)
dissertations. However, in time it has become one of traditions of the
journal to publish the results of young mathematicians intended for their
first doctor (Ph.D.) dissertations.
“Proceedings of MMO” have published many papers written by the
outstanding Soviet/Russian mathematicians. Among them: S. I. Adyan,
P. S. Alexandroff, D. V. Anosov, V. I. Arnold,
K. I. Babenko, V. A. Vassiliev,
I. M. Gelfand, A. N. Kolmogorov, O. A. Ladyzhenskaya,
A. A. Lyapunov,
V. A. Marchenko, D. E. Menshov, Yu. V. Nesterenko,
S. P. Novikov, O. A. Oleinik,
S. I. Pokhozhaev, Ya. G. Sinai, P. L. Ulyanov,
L. D. Faddeev, N. N. Yanenko.
In the beginning “Proceedings of MMS” were published by the State
Publishing House for Technical-Theoretical Literature (GITTL), and then
by the State Publishing House for Physical-Mathematical Literature
(GIFML) with periodicity of 1–2 issues per year. From 1965 till 1996 they
were published by the Moscow State Lomonosov University. From 1997 till
2010 the Publisher was the Publishing House “URSS”. From 2011 the
Publisher of “Proceedings” is the Publishing House of Moscow Centre of
Continuous Mathematical Education (MCCME).
From 1963 (volume 12) “Proceedings of MMS” are translated into English
by the American Mathematical Society.
