The Institute of Automation and Control Processes, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was established in 1971, May 20 on the basis of a Department of Technical Cybernetics, Far Eastern Division, Siberian Branch, Academy of Sciences, USSR (leader — D.Sci.(Tech.), Prof. Kochubievsky I.D.)
and Incorporated Computer Center FEPI-FESU-FED SB AS USSR (leader — D.Sci.(Tech.) Zdor V.V.).
Now institute has 331 members of the staff including 142 researches
(1 academician of RAS, 2 corresponding members of RAS,
33 doctors and 63 kandidates
of sciences), 5 men are awarded with a honourable rank "Honoured Scientist of Russian Federation". The Institute has 4 educational departments run jointly with the universities of the country, postgraduate courses, and 3 Specialized Learned Councils to confer dissertations
in 7 specializations.
Today the main attention is given to the following scientific directions:
- Mathematical problems of Continuum Mechanics and control processes.
- Theoretical and applied problems of technologies software.
