Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration was founded in 1922. Close scientific and practical cooperation of the OSAR with a number of leading industrial and commercial enterprises in Ukraine and other countries makes it possible to apply the latest achievements of refrigeration, cryogenics, thermal-physics, ecology and computer technologies in the process of teaching.
More than 300 scientists, professors and technicians are involved in research activities of the Academy in 15 areas of study. Scientists and researches of the Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration have been awarded the State award of Ukraine for development and design of cryosurgery apparatuses and hyper-thermal chambers.
Research centers and laboratories of the Academy design complex units and devices for aircraft and space equipment, for medicine, metallurgy, food processing, and chemical industries. In particular, thermal-electrical coolers manufactured in a specialized laboratory of the Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration were used on the American Mars Vehicle within the framework of space program of the USA. Scientific achievements of the Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration scholars are international in the majority of research fields.
Student research is an important part of study while completing laboratory and practical problems, course and diploma projects. Success in research activity, good command of foreign languages and computing skills are favorable for getting national and foreign grant, raise the rating of graduates at the job market.
Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration comprised of the Department of Basic Education and three institutes the Institute of Low Temperature Engineering, the Institute of Information Technologies, and the Institute of Thermo physics.
The Department of Basic Education awards a Bachelor's Degree while the institutes provide training for a Master's Degree. Post-graduate courses in the main fields of research of the Institutes are also available.
Graduates from the Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration can be employed in research and design institutions and laboratories where they can specialize in the fields of refrigeration and cryogenics, thermal-physics, ecology, renewable sources of energy, automatization of technological processes, automated systems of processing, and computer modeling. Graduates can also work in banks and companies with computer-oriented information, and data processing systems.
Full-time and extra-mural education forms are also valid at the Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration.
