Automatic regulator of the combustion process devised by the All-Union Thermo-technical Institute
S. G. Gerasimov
Abstract:
The Regulator of the All-Union Thermo-technical Institute represents a system of automatic control of combustion processes in steam boilers devised on the basis of the electrical principle of intermittent work. In accordance with the variation in boiler load the automatic regulator actuates the supply of fuel and air maintaining automatically constancy of pressure in the main steam line within the limits of fluctuations allowed. Apart from the regulators of fuel and air there is a discharge regulator maintaining automatically the constancy of discharge in the furnace and functioning in sequence to the air regulator; efficiency regulator ($CO_2$)—ensures the adjustment of the fuel-air ratio. The article gives further a description of the design of individual parts of the piston type manometer and transmitter of the A. U. Th. I. design, of the relay with falling arc, the electric tachometer, the tensiometer and the electrical synchronizer of the work of induced—or forced draft fans. The next stage of improvement of this automatic regulator may be the substitution of the relay by electron-ionic apparatus.
