Search for numbers that are nearest to a given number

The paper proposes a method to use an associative memory unit of three-state elements for the search of a number which is the nearest larger or smaller than the desired one. The search procedure is completed within one access to the memory but requires some expenditure of the store. The necessary redundancy is estimated.
