The course is a natural continuation of the "Introduction to geometric group theory" course read in Fall 2022. In particular, we will consider in detail hyperbolic groups in Gromov's sense and formulate and prove results on groups acting on trees (the Bass-Serre theory). Apart from knowledge of the Fall course, no prerequisites are required. Students of any level and post-graduate students are invited.
