Colloquium of Steklov Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences
The council of young scientists and specialists of MIAN starts a new seminar in 2013, "Colloquium of the Steklov Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences". The goal of the seminar is to give an introduction to various domains in mathematics and theoretical physics. It is expected that the talks would be acceptable for a wide audience and would not require any special knowledge from the participants. At the same time, the speakers should explain main notions, principles, ideas of proofs, and, most important, the beauty of the theory to be discussed. The speakers are also encouraged to focus on relations with other fields. Among other lectures, we expect talks by young members of the Steklov Mathematical Institute of RAS describing research topics in the institute.
Place and time of the seminar: conference hall of MIAN, 9th floor, first Thursday of each month from 16.00 till 17.30 (changes are possible sometimes). A tea will be served after the seminar.
