Abstract: The mechanism of combustion in a multilayer 5Ti+3Si system upon packing of disks with a gap is studied experimentally. The existence of a superadiabatic combustion regime is revealed. It is shown that only the relay-race combustion regime occurs at all the process parameters studied.
