Effect of fixing conditions on the heating rate of a specimen
A. G. Knyazeva Institute of the Physics of Strength and Materials Science, Siberian Division, Russian Academy of Sciences, 634062, Tomsk
Abstract:
A number of problems of the mechanical equilibrium of specimens of various shapes are analyzed. It is shown that coupled problems of heating and initiation of a chemical reaction in a finite body reduce to an ordinary problem of ignition theory that includes new parameters and an additional integral source of heat in the thermal-conductivity equation. Solution of the problem of ignition of a plane layer of finite thickness shows that the character of fixing of the specimen surfaces can have a significant effect on the heating and reaction characteristics in the heated layer.
