Abstract:
The combustion of armored and unarmored specimens is analyzed within the frame-work of a model that was designed on the basis of equations of the mechanics of multiphase media and takes into account macrostructure variations associated with the difference between the metal and product density, liquid-phase sintering, and the action of the gas filtered in the pores. The effect of the degree of dilution of the compound on the combustion-wave parameters and the product structure is investigated. Conditions are determined for the conservation of the penetrability of the mixture when the metal is melted, and equations are derived for the combustion rate and the final porosity. The combustion of unarmored specimens is described at a qualitative level. Conditions for gas supply through the mixture and the products are found.
