Quantitative relationships governing the ignition of particles and crystals in homogeneous exothermic systems
L. G. Strakovskii Moscow
Abstract:
A relationship has been established between the time required for the ignition of a particle by a thermal flux and the corresponding magnitude for the half-space. The two-dimensional problem of wedge ignition by a thermal flux has been resolved. A significant increase in the ignition temperature has been observed as the angle is reduced. We have demonstrated that the delay in the ignition of the crystal is governed by the heating of its protrusions. We have examined the application of the derived relationships to interpret the CDT experiments.
