Abstract:
We examine the temperature regime in the ignition of mixtures of dichlormethane and chlorine subjected to the effects of a beam of mercury light. In mixtures with a dichlormethane concentration below the lowest concentration limit of ignition the reaction occurs in a nonisothermal regime, with considerable heating of the mixture. With a higher dichlormethane concentration the reaction is explosive in nature, and the mixture is ignited. We have investigated the inhibiting of the photoignition process with oxygen. We have demonstrated that for purposes of describing the photoignition process during the initial period it is possible to use the equation for the rate of the reaction, derived under the assumption of quasisteadiness in the active particles.
