Automating the calculation of genetic similarity
and genetic distances

Abstract:
The construction of phylogenetic trees is the most important task in biological research. Within the
scope of this research subject, there arises the problem of automating the calculation of genetic distance
and genetic similarity between populations of one species. The object of the study is the succession of
sequence of alleles in the loci of polytene chromosomes. The article presents the program Chironomus, written in C#, which allows to quickly and conveniently calculate the genetic distance for all the main
methods. The developed program significantly simplifies genetic studies, allowing to simply enter data
and obtain results simultaneously for a large number of compared populations.
