Creation of digital maps of avalanche danger (Kabardino-Balkar republic)

The principles of construction of avalanche digital maps based on the results of decoding of multitemporal photographic materials on selected geosystems (upper reaches of the Baksan river) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic are presented. For each landscape a special (avalanche) strata based on interpretation of photographs is created. The resulting schematic maps allow a numerical assessment of the natural hazard. Recommendations are presented to reduce the impact of avalanches on the studied area to the optimum.
