Electromagnetic radiation of an uncharged drop oscillating in an electrostatic field

Abstract:
A dispersion relation is derived for a spheroidal conducting drop oscillating in an electrostatic field with regard to losses due to electromagnetic radiation, since such a drop is shown to emit electromagnetic waves. The electromagnetic radiation intensity and the radiation frequency bandwidth versus the drop’s size and external field intensity are estimated for a single drop and for a cloud.
