On the possibility of excited atom condensation in a gas discharge

Abstract: The condensation of excited atoms in a gas discharge is studied experimentally. A wide band shifted toward the red part of the spectrum is found to appear in the Rydberg series of the sodium spectral range when sodium vapor is added to an argon discharge. The formation of spherical plasma objects is observed.
