Crack dynamics in polymethyl methacrylate plates under quasi-static and dynamic loading
I. V. Smirnov, Yu. V. Sudienkov Saint Petersburg State University
Abstract:
Crack propagation in polymethyl methacrylate plates under various loading conditions are studied experimentally. It is shown that the behavior of a crack is unstable at both quasi-static and impulse loading. It is found that the time of crack propagation may be much longer than the duration of an external impulse action.
