Abstract: Novel promising Fe–Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalysts for the selective liquid-phase hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds (phenylacetylene and 2-methylbut-3-yn-2-ol) under ambient conditions have been prepared. They were characterized by low temperature nitrogen adsorption, XRD, SEM, TEM, TPR-H2 and DRIFTS-CO techniques. The presence of Pd–Fe nanoparticles led to increased reactivity and selectivity of the new catalysts in hydrogenation of the C≡C bond to the C=C one as compared to those of the Pd/Al2O3 system.
