Abstract: New organosilicon ionic liquids and cyclophanes were synthesized in a one stage by the solvent- and base-free reaction of 2-methylimidazole with 1-iodo- or 1,7-diiodo-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-2,6-disilaheptanes.
