Abstract: A new polyherdal nickel siloxane was synthesized by the hydrolysis of triethoxy(4-vinylbenzyl)silane in the presence of NaOH and the subsequent interaction with [Ni(NH3)6]Cl2. The nickel siloxane has a dimeric structure that consists of two polyhedral sandwiched pentanuclear nickel siloxane units linked by very strong O–H···O bonds into infinite chains in a crystal.
