Abstract: The heterometallic Ni/Zn compound [Ni(bpy)3][Zn(NCO)4]·H2O was synthesized and crystallographically characterized. This complex is an efficient catalyst in the H/D exchange reaction of salicylaldehyde, as confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy and GC-MS analysis.
