Abstract: Some carboxylic fullerene C60 derivatives produced by Friedel–Crafts arylation of C60Cl6, whose potassium salts are water-soluble, exhibit low cytotoxicity and high antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus and human cytomegalovirus.
