Abstract: Tetra-meso-phenylporphyrins with higher alkoxy substituents at 4-positions of 5,15- or 5,10,15,20-phenyl groups have been synthesised; their liquid-crystal properties have been studied, and compounds that can undergo vitrification with retention of the mesophase structure have been revealed.
