Abstract: Tris[2-(phenylthio)ethyl]phosphine oxide reacts with sodium amide to afford trivinylphosphine oxide in a good yield. The reaction involves the generation of phosphoryl-stabilised carbanions, which further eliminate benzene thiolate anions.
