Abstract: Multicomponent one-pot reactions of aromatic aldehydes, cyanothioacetamide, ethyl benzoylacetate, acetone and malononitrile in the presence of N-methylmorpholine or similar reactions of pyridinethiones or -thiolates with malononitrile and acetone afford the title compounds, which were unknown before.
