Abstract:
The strong inhibiting effect of C3H6 on the self-ignition of dichlorosilane–chlorine mixtures points to silylenes as chain carriers of the reaction. A critical concentration of chemically inert SF6 (> 45%) drastically improves the inhibiting action of C3H6 indicating the occurrence of energy branching.
