Abstract: The reaction of substituted 1-lithio-o-carboranes with tropylium tetrafluoroborate produces 7-(o-carboran-1-yl)cyclohepta-1,3,5-trienes, which can also be obtained by decomplexation of the corresponding tricarbonylchromium complexes prepared from 1-lithio-o-carboranes and [(C7H7)Cr(CO)3]+BF4
