Abstract:
The reduction of 2,3,5-substituted 2-sulfolenes with sodium in EtOH leads to 4,5-dihydrothiophenes; the reduction of 2,3- substituted 2-sulfolenes leads to a mixture of 4,5-dihydrothiophenes and sulfolanes.
