Abstract:
A new electromechanical instrument, developed to investigate the interaction of surfaces and enabling high resolution simultaneous displacement and force measurement with an electrical capacitor as a sensor, has been used to study the viscous resistance of thin interlayers of a liquid medium (10−1 mol dm−3 aqueous NaCl) between molten glass spheres.
