Abstract: The novel bis(alkynyliodonium) salt, 2, has been prepared by the reaction of p-bis(iodosyl)benzene with trimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate and bis(trimethylsilyl)acetylene; X-ray structure analysis reveals an unusual basket-like structure for this compound.
