Abstract: 1H NMR spectral data and an X-ray structural analysis of 5-acyloxy-5-benzyl-1,2,3,4-tetraphenylcyclopenta-1,3-diene have elucidated the 3,3-sigmatropic shift pathway of circumambulation of the acyloxy group around the cyclopentadiene ring.
