Graphic abstract: Phosphatetrasilatricyclo[2.1.0.0<sup>2,5</sup>]pentane

Abstract: The phosphatetrasilatricyclo[2.1.0.0^2,5]pentane cage compound was synthesized by the reaction of the tetrasilacyclobutadiene dianion dipotassium salt precursor with PCl₃. The structure, bonding nature, and mechanism of formation of the title compound were studied both experimentally (NMR, X-ray) and computationally (DFT).
