Abstract: New composite antimicrobial materials based on halloysite and the antiseptic drug chlorhexidine acetate have been synthesized and studied via the adsorption method. During the drug adsorption, both the surface area and the pore space volume decrease because of the pores filling with halloysite. For the first time, the density functional method has been used to assess the differences in the texture of the studied materials.
Keywords: halloysite, chlorhexidine acetate, adsorption, porosity, antimicrobial properties.
