Abstract:
A new 4-styrylpyridinium derivative containing an N,N-bis(carboxymethyl)amino (iminodiacetate) group as the receptor moiety exhibits a hypsochromic shift and fluorescence quenching when complexed with a copper(II) cation. This compound may be proposed as a fluorescent chemosensory agent for the selective detection of Cu2+ in aqueous solutions.
