Abstract: During the combustion of hydrogen (70–40%) + propane (30–60%) + air mixtures over palladium at a total pressure of 1–2 atm, Pd is consumed in the chemical etching reaction with active combustion intermediates. This behaviour of palladium limits its applicability in ignition devices.
Keywords: ignition, combustion, hydrogen, propane, palladium, etching, active intermediate.
