Polarization phenomena in coherent excitation of atomic systems: an overview of results

Abstract: The article gives an overview of the main theoretical and experimental studies of the phenomena caused by the formation of coherent states – coherent population trapping, electromagnetically induced transparency, and laser generation without inversion.
Keywords: $\Lambda$-scheme, Liouville von Neumann equation, dark state, Hanle effect, Rabi frequency.
