Optical excitation and control of extended orbits in quadrupole traps

Abstract: In the present work a formation of extended orbits of single charged particles in a linear radiofrequency trap under the action of the light pressure force of laser radiation is considered. The conditions for the formation of extended orbits depending on the characteristics of the laser radiation and the object of localization are determined.
Keywords: ion traps, quadrupole traps, light pressure, extended orbits, period-doubling bifurcation, nonlinear dynamics.
