Abstract:
Saturated boiling of nanofluids on a cylindrical heater has been experimentally studied. The nanofluids were prepared using distilled water and nanoparticles of silica and alumina. The volume concentration of nanoparticles was changed from 0.05 to 0.5%, their diameters varied from 10 to 100 nm, and the heater diameter was increased from 0.1 to 0.3 mm. It is established that the critical heat flux density in boiling nanofluids depends on the size and material of nanoparticles and on the heater diameter. The critical heat flux density grows with increasing size of nanoparticles and drops with increasing diameter of the heater.
