Abstract:
The results of an experimental investigation of the radial and axial mechanical perturbations that arise in a cylindrical conductor during the passage of a pulsed discharge current are presented. It is established that the amplitude of perturbations has an oscillatory character and their radial component may be among the factors inducing the magnetohydrodynamic instability mode with $m$ = 0 and the appearance of striations during the electric explosion of wires.
